Halloween Candy Bark

This Halloween Candy Bark is an easy and fun treat. Plus, you don't need any fancy dessert decorating skills!

Making candy bark is a fun way to get creative without too much pressure to be perfect. Just grab whatever treats you have on hand and scatter them across some melted chocolate or almond bark and gently press it in. 

If you're like me, you probably have chips, nuts, or candies that are leftover from a recipe where you didn't use the whole bag. There's not enough left for another recipe, but too much to throw away. It's definitely the perfect scenario to make candy bark.

To counteract all of the sweetness, you can also add something salty. I added some pretzels, but you could add peanuts or cashews for the same effect. 

This bark has a graham cracker base, a tip I first saw on Pioneer Woman. The cookies add a nice crunch, and make it so much easier to break up the bark. Plus, you don't need to use a huge amount of chocolate. 

Ingredients I used to decorate this candy bark: 

  • Stick pretzels, broken in half

  • Reese's Pieces

  • Mini Oreo cookies, cut in half

  • Candy eyeballs, which I adore

  • Butterscotch chips

  • Funfetti vanilla cake-flavored chips (a total impulse buy)

Other ideas for decorating this Halloween candy bark include colored sprinkles M&Ms, candy corn, chopped Oreos with colored filling, chopped nuts, and other chopped Halloween candy. 

You can also adapt this bark to other holidays, such as Valentine's Day, Easter, or Christmas. 

To melt the chocolate, I used the Wilton Melting Pot because it's pretty foolproof. You can also use the double boiler method, with a Pyrex bowl over a pot of simmering water.

Halloween Candy Bark Recipe

This Halloween Candy Bark is an easy and fun treat. Plus, you don't need any fancy dessert decorating skills!

Ingredients

  • 16 full-sized graham crackers
  • 24 ounce package of chocolate almond bark or chocolate candy melts. You can also use bittersweet chocolate chips. 
  • About a half of a cup of stick pretzels, broken in half
  • About a third of a cup of Reese's Pieces
  • Small handful of decorative candy eyes
  • Handful of Oreo Minis, cut in half
  • Handful of butterscotch chips
  • Handful of Funfetti or white chocolate chips
  • Feel free to make substitutions for any of the toppings

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and cover the paper with the whole graham crackers in a single layer. 
  2. Melt the chocolate with a double boiler or a Wilton melting pot, and pour it over the graham crackers. 
  3. Using an offset spatula, spread the chocolate in an even layer over the graham crackers. 
  4. Sprinkle the chocolate with the pretzels, cookies, and candy, and gently press them into the chocolate. 
  5. Refrigerate the baking sheet immediately, until the chocolate has set. 
  6. Break the bark into serving sized pieces.

  1. I'm all about using up all of my leftovers in a fun holiday themed bark! We always have candy eyeballs on hand because my toddler likes to glue them on projects but also likes to eat them so we use the candy ones instead of the ones that aren't edible!
