Air Fryer Croutons

These golden brown and crunchy air fryer croutons are perfect for topping your favorite soups and salads.

Making homemade croutons in the air fryer couldn't be easier. All you need is some stale bread, some olive oil, and seasonings.

For these, I used garlic powder and Italian seasoning, but you can play with whatever seasonings you prefer, such as dried parsley, onion powder, and salt and pepper. You could even use melted butter instead of the olive oil.

What kind of bread should you use to make air fryer croutons?

You can use any kind of bread you like. I prefer using day old baguettes. Baguettes stale pretty quickly and I hate to waste them.

You can also use standard sandwich bread for smaller croutons. Whole wheat, rye, and sourdough bread also make delicious croutons.

Air fryer croutons are delicious in green salads, for panzanella salads, and added to roasted tomato soup

Between you and me, they were also wonderful for snacking. They actually stayed crispy and fresh for several days.

How to make these air fryer croutons:

First, cut your bread into 1 inch (or so) cubes. Cut enough bread to make 3 to 4 cups. If you have more than that, you can air fry them in batches.

Spread the olive oil out onto a rimmed sheet pan and toss the bread cubes in the oil. Sprinkle with the seasonings and toss again.

Heat your air fryer to 390 degrees F and add the bread cubes. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, and then toss and air fry for 3 to 5 minutes more. Depending on your air fryer, the time it will take for them to get brown and crispy will vary, so check them every few minutes.

You can serve these immediately or let them cool. Store the completely cooled croutons in an airtight container.
